The Australian Association of University Professors Condemns the Politically Motivated Legal Action against Professor Wojciech Sadurski in Poland
This week Professor Wojciech Sadurski, Challis Professor of Law at the University of Sydney and a Professor of Law at the University of Warsaw has faced court in Poland in the first of a series of legal actions taken in response to his outspoken criticism of the current Polish government.
Professor Sadurski is a scholar of the highest international standing. His criticism of the Polish government draws upon his world-renowned expertise in legal and political theory and freedom of speech. The harassment of him is a grave interference with academic freedom and freedom of speech, each of which is in turn essential to the promotion and maintenance of democratic government and the rule of law in Poland and globally.
The Australian Association of University Professors is a national organisation committed to the promotion and protection of academic freedom. It condemns the legal harassment of our colleague in the strongest terms.
